Re: [scans] AMS - Porsche 997 Carrera S

The 4.7 0-100kph time seems really conservative to me, thats slower than the factory listed time for a standard Carrera S. Though the driving conditions and what not may have affected the performance. The Power Kit in the US costs $16,900 and some change, not exactly a bargain for less than 30 hp gain and some odd torque. Trust me, the Carrera S is already fast enough without the extra 30 hp.

I checked the RUF USA website, and you can get a 80-100 hp/30lb/ft Torque gain for about $27,000 to put things into perspective. I think that Porsche should just make the 381 hp figure standard instead of charging such a premium on a small power gain.

My German is a bit rusty indeed, but wasn't the original post exactly about standard Carrera S...?

Elsewhere there was a post of the "kitted" version with 0-100km/h in 4.4secs which should put it quite close to the GT3 territory.

This is the standard Carrera S and it's factory time from 0 to 100 km/h is 4,8 s. So this is faster...

Re: [scans] AMS - Porsche 997 Carrera S

I know its a standard Carrera S, thank you. That time depends on your source. Though mine is the Porsche USA website, so it could be 62mph that you get yours from. Either way, its conservative.

Porsche USA quotes 0-60mph, not 0-100km/h (or 0-62mph). Depending on the car and make (and gearing), this typically translates into 0.2-0.3secs difference.

AFAIK, Porsche's factory figures are typically conservative though i.e. you get what you pay for (and in most cases then some). Same cannot unfortunately be said of all car makers as I have seen...

Re: [scans] AMS - Porsche 997 Carrera S

I know about the differences betweens the Euro and American spec vehicles thanks.

I just realized, I replied originally(with all the stuff about the Carrera S + Powerkit information) in the wrong thread. I had two tabs open, and I was going to reply to both threads. I must have accidentally typed my post in the wrong one. No wonder nobody cares about the Power Kit junk....

I wonder if there is any way I could do some 0-60 tests on ours, though it would probably be over 5 seconds from the way I drive lol.
