F01 BMW 7er - first spy pics

I expected this to hit us by the end of the year, but it came few months earlier ...

F01 7er in heavy camo - emulating pre-facelifted E65:

Expect X6 prototypes to hit the roads soon as well (by the end of the year).

In design the radical approach is very much in element - snake like eyes surround a widened twin kidney grille . a strong shoulder line connects the mid section of the body and the rear lights wrap onto the bootlid. The LWB features larger shaped front lights and a long light strip along the rear trunk lid. Engines will start from new V8 including twin turbo , petrol and diesel , a new twin turbo V12 and next generation top line diesel engine , hydrogen power will also be available from the start of production.

And then finally Because of the proposals of using lightweight efficiency the 7er will be engineered to be lighter than it's previous incarnations. The new 7er will also commit platform modules that will be shared with the new small Rolls-Royce.

With the advance to make the 7er more lighter the next generation car will eventually herald the arrival of an M7.

This one looks like its gonna be ugly aswell. BMW should just start all over with the 7er design, instead of evolutionising it.

Your comments about BMWs are starting to repeat themselves, and therefore they are very boring.

Maybe some detailed elaboration of your view would help to improve that.

Everyone is able to say "This is ugly". Even my 4-year old nephew.

I agree with EniLab on your comments!

Also, you can't tell what this car looks like when it has this much camo on, so can't really have an opinion yet!

Re: F01 BMW 7er - first spy pics

What can be seen from the spy pics is:

- grille & headlights sit lower
- shoulder line sits higher
- greenhouse / roof line is a bit lower, and more curved
- rear window looks longer, more sloped, more coupeish
- trunk / boot lid is not so high anymore (look that rear window continues under the boot lid camo - going more towards rear end which appeared to be shorter)
- the whole car sits lower
- the overall appearance seems much sleeker & sportier than E65's

New 7er is going to be released in 2008, right?

And YoungWarrior's idea is arguable, wheter BMW should evolve original 7er design or develop new...

Re: F01 BMW 7er - first spy pics

After looking very carefully at the pics, i have to say that this car is gonna look great.

I noticed one thing though. Look how the car ends, where the boot lid rises from the rest of the car. This is a design element taken from volvo, i think.

the whole thing looks crap. It doesnt look like a car thats made for enthusiasts.

It reminds me of one of these barges.

And you guys always say bad things about audi's or MB but we dont complain

I can tell from the overall shape that this car is gonna be ugly, and clumsy kinda looking.
