Almost like M3 CS, better brakes, sportier suspension, redline 8400 rpm, new gadgets, light materials and 570-582hp.
More info coming in Frankfurt it says.

It would be a smart move by BMW to make this,lets say,"perfomanace" version of M5 considering near launch of RS6.Today standard M5 is already benchmark in sports sedan segment but I feel this kind of improvments are needed to make competitions feet shake .

M5 CS and M5 Highline

Just received these news that will be presented the upcoming week, probably on Monday.

There will be two new M5 "add on" packages, similar to the last BMW M3 E46 that was made in M3 CS package. Apparantly BMW wants to meet both the more demanding drivers but also the more comfort oriented drivers and passengers. Goal is sub 8 min on the Nordschleife on Nürburgring

Obivously taking some clues from Maserati Quattroporte with their Quattroporte Sport and Exclusive models but also from other manufacturers in terms of options.

They are BMW M5 CS (Competition Sport) and BMW M5 Highline. BMW M5 CS will have carbonroof, carbon sport seats front and some sport seat for back seat passengers as well + carbon brakes. M5 Highline while have more options for rear passangers and double glass apparantly, as was option for the earlier M5 E39. Baggage room in leather also

In short until we get English version. For now only for EU / Middle East region / Asian regions what I can see so far.

BMW M5 Competition Package (Sedan only)
  • Keramikbremsen, Bremsscheiben aus kohlefaserverstärkter Keramik, mit speziell entwickelten Kühlkanälen, innenbelüftet; vorn: 6-Kolben-Monoblock-Aluminiumsättel von Brembo; sportliche Optik durch die charakteristischen Perforationender Scheiben, Bremssättel in Anthrazit mit dem Schriftzug „BMW M Ceramic“ auf den vorderen Bremssätteln; Vorteile:hohe Bremsleistung, höchste Fadingstabilität, sehr hohe Lebensdauer, erhöhte Fahrdynamik und Agilität
  • Carbondach, Das aus dem Rennsport stammende Kohlefasermaterial wiegt bei gleicher Stabilität und Crashsicherheit erheblich weniger als Aluminium oder gar Stahl. Reduzierte Masse, die den Schwerpunkt nach unten hin verschiebt und die nicht beschleunigt oder gebremst zu werden braucht. Besonders signifikant wirkt sich der Intelligente Leichtbau des M5 CS beim Dach in CFK-Sichtoptik aus. Dieses großflächige Bauteil, im BMW Werk Landshut von Spezialisten gefertigt, ist nicht nur rund sechs Kilogramm leichter als ein herkömmliches Dach. Es senkt durch seine exponierte Position auch den Schwerpunkt des Autos. Nahezu jedes Bauteil des M5 nahmen sich die Ingenieure von BMW M bei ihrer Gewichtsprüfung vor und verbanden es mit den am besten geeigneten Materialien zur Gewichtseinsparung.
  • Sportsitze, Fahrer und Beifahrer finden hervorragend konturierte Schalensitze aus Glasfaserverstärktem Kunststoff vor, die optimalen Seitenhalt vermitteln. Für einen komfortablen Zugang in den Fond des M5 CS können diese GFK-Schalensitze nach vorne geklappt werden und sind auf mechanische Weise in Höhe und Länge individuell verstellbar. Ihre Sitzbezüge bestehen aus einer Amaretta-Stoff-Kombination. Die Passagiere im Fond nehmen auf zwei ausgeformten Einzelsitzen Platz, die in die Leichtbaudurchlade integriert sind; auch hier bestehen die Sitzbezüge aus einer Amaretta-Stoff-Kombination.
  • <8 min Nordschleife, Das Ziel: weniger als acht Minuten für die Nordschleife. Als Ergebnis aller dieser Maßnahmen ist ein Automobil entstanden, das BMW typische Fahrfreude in ihrer reinsten Form präsentiert. Der M5 CS verkörpert in seiner kompromisslosen Gesamtabstimmung Fahrdynamik pur, die es ihm ermöglichen soll, eine bisher nicht für möglich gehaltene „Schallmauer“ zu durchbrechen: die Nürburgring-Nordschleife mit einem Serienauto in weniger als acht Minuten zu fahren.
BMW M5 Highline (Sedan and Touring)

  • Doppelverglasung, verbesserte Außengeräuschdämmung, zusätzlicher Einbruchschutz
  • Komfortklimaautomatik Vier-Zonen, mit indirekter Belüftung und sonnenstandsabhängiger Regelung, Temperatureinstellung
    und Luftverteilung sowohl links und rechts als auch vorn und hinten getrennt einstellbar, Klimabedienteil
    für den Fond in der Mittelkonsole hinten, Fondfunktionen auch über vorderes Klimabedienteil einstellbar
  • Kühlbox, Kompressor-Kühltechnik, Temperaturregelbereich +10 °C
    bis –15 °C, Ablagefach für z. B. zwei Champagnerflaschen
    liegend und ein zusätzliches Ablagefach, Innenbeleuchtung in LED-Technik, Unterbringung in der Durchladeeinrichtung für Skisack, RückrüstungSkisack jederzeit möglich (nur in Verbindung mit
    Durchladeeinrichtung mit Skisack bestellbar)
  • Tischplatte, Elektrisch ausfahrbare Edelholztische können genauso in die Rückenlehnen der Vordersitze integriert werden wie ein Faxgerät. Die Tischplatten sind stufenlos in der Neigung verstellbar und bieten reichlich Platz für Aktenstudium oder für die Funktastatur des Computer-Systems, das, je nach Kundenwunsch, als IBMkompatibles PC-System oder mit Apple Mac Technologie ausgerüstet werden kann. Die Anbindung an die Geschäftswelt erfolgt über HighTech Telefonsysteme, die Einwahl ins Internet erfolgt im aktuellen GPRS oder 3G Standard.
  • BMW Individual Rear Seat Infotainment Online ist das innovative Internet-
    System für Fondpassagiere. Auf zwei in die Rückwandverkleidungen der Vordersitze integrierten 9,5 Zoll
    LCD-Monitoren spielt sich das volle multimediale Programm inklusive TV- und DVD-Nutzung ab. Während der
    Fahrt kann das Internet uneingeschränkt genutzt werden.Mobile Logenplätze: BMW Individual Rear Seat Infotainment besteht aus zwei 6,5 Zoll LCD-Monitoren im Fond. Während der Fahrt können TV-Programme empfangen und DVD-Filme im 16:9 Format verfolgt werden. Die Funktionen des Control Centers werden auf den Monitoren dargestellt. Für ein besonderes Klangerlebnis
    sorgt die Audiowiedergabe.
  • Die BMW Individual Mittelkonsole mit Tisch und multifunktionaler Kommunikationseinheit eröffnet ein Höchstmaß an Freiheit. Mit ihr
    wird professionelle Bürokommunikation in Ihrem BMW Individual möglich. Hierfür sorgt das integrierte All-in-one-Gerät zum Faxen, Drucken,Scannen und Kopieren während der Fahrt. Ihr eigenes Laptop wird über die Schnittstelle angeschlossen. Das integrierte Dualband-GSM-Modul,Modem und die SMS-Funktion stellen die notwendige Verbindung her. Diese Version ist auch ohne Tisch erhältlich.
