| Re: 2008 North American International Auto Show [NAIAS] Consumers with a taste for expensive and exotic cars will get a shopping experience geared to them at the Detroit auto show.
The Gallery, an invitation-only event featuring luxury vehicles, live music and gourmet food, takes place from 8 to 11 p.m. Jan. 13 on the show floor.
Luxury automakers Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Maybach and Rolls-Royce will have their designers and executives at their displays. Potential customers and enthusiasts can ask about the features, performance and technology.
About 200 invitations have been sent, organizers said.
“This unique event was designed for those individuals who favor high-end, luxury vehicles and wish to have a special preview of the elite vehicles on display,” said Carl Galeana, senior co-chairman of the Detroit show. “It will be a night of elegance and a refined celebration of art, music, and gourmet food and, of course, some of the finest automobiles that our guests can appreciate and enjoy.”
One automaker that will be absent is Porsche. The German sports car maker pulled out of the Detroit show this year, saying the show does not make economic sense because Porsche does not sell enough vehicles in the Detroit market.
