Re: Auto Express First Drives Mitsuoka Orochi Japan's answer to the Ferrari

Mitsuoka Orochi Kabuto Concept debuts in Tokyo

The Mitsuoka Orochi is a Japanese supercar that first appeared in concept form back in 2001 but managed to enter production that very same year. The original concept was built off a donor Honda NSX chassis and was powered by a similar V6 engine. Since then, Mitsuoka has released two revised models, one in 2003 and another in 2005, and now for the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show it has unveiled another concept version of the Orochi.

The latest concept is called the Kabuto and it differs from the original production versions thanks to the new carbon-fiber panels, full bodykit and ominous GT wing. This is the only official image of the Kabuto but there are more images of the standard Orochi in our gallery below.
The most recent Orochi features a 3.3L Toyota 3MZ-FE V6 engine with 230hp on tap. Production is limited to just 400 units and there’s no word if a special Kabuto version will eventually be sold.
