Re: *Little Sedan BATTLE* (C-class, A4, 3 series...)!

I voted for the 3er - but only just - by virtue of its superior engine range at the moment.

In typical MB fashion the new C-Class (which I think is better looking and has the nicer interior) was launched with pretty much the current engine line up, barring a few power tweaks here and there...

The 1.8 litre supercharged engines are rough, whiney and noisey - quite unbecoming of the three pointed star. The diesels are competitive though not in the league of the BMW's fabulous three oil-burners in the 320d, 330d and 335d.

But wait... the rumour mill bodes for new 2.0 litre turbo petrol engines for 2008 and the new CGI direct injection V6's are on the cards too... A C350 CGI is a delicious prospect in isolation alone. Oh and then there's the little matter of shoehorning a 6.2 litre V8 into Merc's smallest sedan and coupling this with the best conventional automatic transmission around.

That starts to even things out.
