You guessed it: Mercedes AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. It is not talked about a lot, but Mercedes AMG provides the 5 speed automatic transmissions for the 996 and 997, with the 997 getting the newer version from the C55/E55/SL55.
I always thought Porsches used ZF transmissions.
