Re: New C-Class coming with Bluetec in North america?

Mercedes Benz will be displaying its Vision C 220 BLUETEC in Geneva, the first four-cylinder model to feature the ultra-clean diesel technology. Like its previous Vision GL420 SUV that was shown at last month’s Detroit Auto Show, the new Vision C 220 gives a glimpse of diesel powertrains of the future. It’s already in compliance with strict EURO 6 emission standards that are applicable to all new vehicles Europe-wide from 2015 and with an output of 170hp (125kW) and a peak torque of 400 Nm, the sedan only requires 5.5L of diesel per hundred kilometres.

112875807c250_01.jpgFollowing the US launch of BLUETEC technology, Mercedes is preparing to launch the range in other markets. The technology is currently being adapted to European market requirements and further Mercedes Benz models, the aim being to also offer BLUETEC in passenger cars for European customers, starting in 2008. The technology in the Vision C 220 includes an oxidising catalytic converter, which reduces emissions of carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons, as well as a particulate filter.

The standard C-Class already reduced CO2 emissions by up to 15% over the former model, and with the introduction of a BLUETEC model, the new C is shaping up to be one of the cleanest vehicles around.
